Jawahar
Navodaya Vidyalaya Pathanamthitta was born in 1986
and the first batch came out in 1993. Despite the greenery,
terrain and climatic conditions all Navodayas around India
look alike as if they were all separated at birth; Cream colored
two storey buildings, an asbestos roofed Multi Purpose Hall
and on the entrance gate written in navy blue - “Come
in to Learn and Go out to Serve”.
Jawahar
Navodaya Vidyalaya a group of educational institutions
managed by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samithi works under
the auspices of Human Resources Development Department,
Government of India. Established in 1985 Navodaya is
the brain child of then Prime Minister late Mr.Rajiv
Gandhi and the then Human Resources Minister late Mr.
P.V.Narasimha Rao. In a nut shell, Navodaya was born
as a remedial measure to uplift the education standard
in rural India which was highlighted in a White Paper
that was prepared during Mr. Rajiv Gandhi’s Prime
Ministership. Inspired from Indian “Gurukula
Sambradayam “ and modeled on Anglo Saxon residential
schools, today there are around 557 such schools around
India rendering quality education to children from rural
India. Originally called as Navodaya Vidyalaya, it was
renamed as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya to commemorate
the birth centenary of Jawahar Lal Nehru the first
Prime Minister of India.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya follows the Central Board of
Secondary Education curriculum and adopts a three language
formula giving equal importance to English, Mother tongue
and National language.
